Community Meeting to Save the Rocket City Mail Processing Facility Tonight

Community Meeting to Save the Rocket City Mail Processing Facility Tonight

The U.S. Postal Service will be conducting a community meeting tonight to discuss moving outgoing mail processing operations from Huntsville to the Birmingham area. This move will virtually remove the Huntsville postmark. However, in an effort to pacify the community and force this move, the Postal Service says the postmark can be requested. Additionally, it is suspected that this move will delay mail services if a full consolidation of mail services takes place, as it is feared that is the direction the Postal Service will eventually proceed with. Even more damaging is the impact the move could have on employees at the facility. It is suspected that temporary employees would lose their jobs if any employees were excessed from the facility.

The meeting will be held at the Decatur Utilities building at 7:00 pm, located at 1002 Central Parkway SW in Decatur. Please be there to show your support in preventing this move.
